The Heart of our Community 

The Board of Trustees

A team of local volunteers established the Charity in 2016 to save the Leisure Centre from closure. The centre transferred from Flintshire County Council to the Charity on 1 st April 2017 and the trustees continue to steer the business towards a secure future.

Paul Islip

Chair

Paul is the former Managing Director of Westbridge Furniture Design Ltd. and leads on matters of Finance and Business Planning. Paul is also a volunteer with other local organisations.

Magali Lovell-Pascal

Treasurer

Mags has lived in Caerwys for over 20 years. As her son is a swimmer for the local and national team she realised the importance of sport in youth development and joined the trust to save the Leisure Centre for the next generation. Mags runs her own financial business.

Adam Parry

Product and Services procurement

Adam became a Trustee of the Leisure Centre because he wanted to be a part of a new community focused charity which literally affects not only local residents but also visitors. Adam loves playing golf and watching football. Adam previously owned his own gym.

Mark Rowlands

Human Resources

Mark has lived and worked in Babell and Holywell for many years and with his family has enjoyed greatly the facilities at the Leisure Centre. Mark continues to work part-time and enjoys keeping active. Dr. Rowlands has a background in health care and in supporting the development of people. “I’m delighted to be involved in this Community Charity caring for the future of our Leisure Centre.

Carmel McCarth

Accessibility and Enablement

Carmel has been a Holywell resident since 2006 and is passionate about health and well-being. “To have a place that supports activities in the heart of the community is central to that. Joining the trustees provides the opportunity to support the great work of the Trustees and Leisure Centre team in achieving a facility that accommodates everybody and every body.”

Len Jones

Len has been a senior Director and Trustee of many organisations and Charities and is a professionally qualified Accountant. He is interested in promoting HLC in the region as a centre for physical ( and mental ) wellbeing. He is keen to bring his expertise to improve service delivery to all parts of the centre and surrounding communities.
