A team of local volunteers established the Charity in 2016 to save the Leisure Centre from closure. The centre transferred from Flintshire County Council to the Charity on 1 st April 2017 and the trustees continue to steer the business towards a secure future.

Product and Services procurement
Adam became a Trustee of the Leisure Centre because he wanted to be a part of a new community focused charity which literally affects not only local residents but also visitors. Adam loves playing golf and watching football. Adam previously owned his own gym.
Human Resources
Mark has lived and worked in Babell and Holywell for many years and with his family has enjoyed greatly the facilities at the Leisure Centre. Mark continues to work part-time and enjoys keeping active. Dr. Rowlands has a background in health care and in supporting the development of people. “I’m delighted to be involved in this Community Charity caring for the future of our Leisure Centre.
Estates
Dan was born and bred in Holywell and spent the majority of his childhood at the Leisure Centre swimming with Holywell Swimming Club and using the net facility in the sports hall with Carmel Cricket Club. He is a Chartered Surveyor and helps with property-related issues with the Trustees.
Human Resources
Helen worked in local education at leadership level for many years. Helen is now an educational consultant and property manager. Helen taught music and now chairs Chester Bach Singers with whom she performs. As a local girl Helen has always valued the facilities at HLC-CHT and joined the Board to support keeping the facility open for the whole community.
Len has been a senior Director and Trustee of many organisations and Charities and is a professionally qualified Accountant. He is interested in promoting HLC in the region as a centre for physical ( and mental ) wellbeing. He is keen to bring his expertise to improve service delivery to all parts of the centre and surrounding communities.
My role at Holywell Leisure Centre as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor provides me with invaluable insight into the workings of the Centre on a day-to-day basis and through working closely with clients, a firm understanding of customer needs. My overall knowledge of the leisure and fitness sector will also prove an essential contribution to the Board. I also have over 9 years of working in Higher Education administration and events and project management roles and have a wealth of transferable skills and knowledge from my time working there that I look forward to applying at the Centre. I am really excited about taking on this new role and look forward to working with the other Trustees to improve the Centre’s offering to our local community.
Accessibility and Enablement
Carmel has been a Holywell resident since 2006 and is passionate about health and well-being. “To have a place that supports activities in the heart of the community is central to that. Joining the trustees provides the opportunity to support the great work of the Trustees and Leisure Centre team in achieving a facility that accommodates everybody and every body.”
